简介: 『機動戦士ガンダムSEED』の続編であるTVアニメ『機動戦士ガンダムSEED DESTINY』全50話を再編集した4部作の第1弾DVD。コーディネーター（遺伝子操作で生まれた新人類）が居住するプラントのザフト軍と、ナチュラル（既存の人類）を代表とする地球連合軍との戦争はようやく停戦を迎えたが、ふたつの人種の戦いそのものはまだ終わっていなかった。本作は主に、地球中立国でもあるオーブ連合首長国に亡命していた前作からの人気キャラ、アスラン・ザラと、かつて戦乱のさなかで両親と妹を失ったザフトの戦士シン・アスカ、そして前作の主人公キラ・ヤマトの視点で、第1話からおよそ第13話までの第1シーズン・ストーリーが語られていく。前作『SEED』も3部作のSPECIAL EDITIONが製作されているが、世界観が複雑なので知識のない方はそれを先に観ておくことをお勧めしておきたい。もともとスタンダードの映像をビスタにトリミングしている分、時折画面が窮屈な印象を受けるが、16対9のTVならワイド感を与えてくれるのも確か。
